Meet The Pastor
Dr. George W. Walters, Jr. is the Senior Pastor of Faith Outreach Center in Tampa, Florida, which he founded in 1983, after receiving a vision from the Lord in 1981. He is also founder and President of Faith Theological Seminary & Christian College and Faith Outreach Center Ministerial Fellowship. Dr. Walters is a Chaplain with the Chaplaincy of Full Gospel Churches and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a Licensed Pastoral Counselor and Certified Clinical Supervisor with the National Christian Counseling Association and is a member of the Florida Association of Christian Psychologists and Counselors. He also has a heart for evangelism and missions. Through preaching, teaching and training with various ministries Dr. Walters has reached Jamaica, Belize, St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. Vincent, Haiti, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic, Barbados, Grenada, Mexico, South Korea and China.
Dr. George Walters, Jr. has been married for over thirty-eight years to his wonderful wife, Dr. Mickey L. Walters, who co-labors in ministry with him and serves as the Administrator of Faith Outreach Academy, a ministry of Faith Outreach Center. They have five grown children, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Because of Dr. Walters’ commitment to Jesus, his whole family came to know God and continue to serve Him today.
Dr. Walters’ spiritual journey with the Lord began in 1962 at First Baptist Church of Port Tampa, in Florida, where he was born-again while serving in the United States Army. After being discharged from the military in 1963, he continued serving in Baptist churches for another seven years until the heartache and devastation of a personal crisis caused him to step back from serving the Lord.
In 1973, the Lord reminded him of the scripture in Luke 13:6-9, which says if a tree doesn’t bear fruit then it must be cut down, and he realized that the tree represented himself and was a warning if he did not obey God’s voice. He returned to the Lord, was baptized in the Holy Spirit, and met his wife, Mickey, shortly after. He received his license to preach at Oldsmar Baptist Church in Florida and began ministering with music there, as well as preaching at various street ministries and homeless shelters. He also served as Chaplain at Memorial Hospital in Tampa for seven years.
In 1977, he began pursuing additional academic training in theology through Moody Bible Institute, Word of Faith, International Seminary and Whitefield Theological Seminary. Over the next fourteen years, he earned a Bachelor and Master in Bible Theology, a Doctor of Ministry and Theology and a Ph.D. in Theology.
The Lord continues to open doors for missions ministry in other countries throughout the Caribbean, South America, the Far East, and Eastern Europe. He also has a heart for training ministers to be equipped and sent out for the work of the ministry in fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
